I tried.

The little one was under the weather yesterday so we were stuck at home. And since she needs to be entertained every minute (just like daddy) I tried to make some playdough. As you can see by her face, it didn't work out so well.
I failed. I felt pretty dumb because my mom used to whip up huge batches like it was no big thing. Katherine called to tell me about her crappy (yet amusing) day. I sensed I was getting too much pleasure out of her ordeal, so I told her about mine. I said "I guess I'll just be one of those moms that buys playdough." She said "You say that like it's a bad thing."

Hopefully it isn't one of the qualifications of being considered a 'good mom'. But if anyone does have a good recipe, lay it on me.

Not a qualifier of a good mom. I made my own a couple times. It turned out ok, but I like good old store bought play dough much better. I stored mine in glass jars and forgot about it, a few month later it was super nasty, the store bough play dough.. now that has some shelf life!

I once made ediable (sp?) play dough too, now that was just weird. It was made with peanut butter and looked like poo, so gross.

You are a fabulous mom, I think your story is too funny!

My grandma used to make us home-made play dough too....in fact I was just thinking of that the other day. I remember after playing with it my hands always tasted so salty! I haven't attempted any play dough (store bought or home made) because Jace still thinks everything is edible.

Wow, Ashley - This picture reminded me of the one of you standing on the kitchen counter with suckers in your hands (am I making this image up?). She is starting to look so much like you! Lucky little girl... :)

i have a great recipe that uses a package of kool-aid that not only dyes the dough, but makes it scented!!! i will have to email it to you sometime...

I know the exact picture you are talking about. Abbey had two suckers in her mouth a month or so ago and it was the first time it hit me how much she looked like me. I've actually wanted to catch a picture of her in the same pose.

I love her face! Classic, "Ooo, gross" picture :) You're a wonderful mom to even try the homemade stuff! I still have never done it and I have 3 little darlings :) Store bought works great in our house :)
