Help My Pod

I think it's time for some new tunage to my daily soundtrack. I've been referring to J as my plain white t and demanding he call me 'Delilah'. Hey, it's applicable! Two more years of school? And I've been giving this song 'another listen' when I'm lonely, pretending J wrote it for me :) Actually, I think it takes a pretty sensitive, emotional soul to write songs like this and I'll keep my steady, level-headed hubby any day.

I digress. My point is, I need some new tunes. And I think the best way to find good music is to dig into everyone's 'favorite' playlist. Before we moved I hijacked Paul and Melody's 'favorites' off their computer and found some new loves--Mushaboom, Leigh Nash, Fa-Fa-Guster--that I listen to every day. I have weird taste in music--meaning, I don't have a particular genre I like. This morning I listened to Mozart, Michael Buble, Pink, Beatles, Beatles, Beatles, Woody Guthrie, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and The Backyardigans. So...not really picky. I can appreciate a selection of all types, so lay it on me.

Although, no Christina Aguilera, please. A particularly brutal man has been subbing the Saturday morning Body Pump class and has perfected the 'FREEZE! Hold it, hold it, hold, it. I don't care if the song is over! I said HOLD IT!' Just the sound of her voice makes my biceps tremble.

'If every simple song I wrote to you would take your breath away, I'd write it all.' Thanks, plain white t! That's sweet.

Gosh I really love that song as well! It is just sweet and tender.
Here's some of my faves:
Anything Dashboard Confessional
Anything All American Rejects
Avril Lavene-lay me down
Rufus Wainright-Across the Universe
Paramore-Brighter
The used-I caught fire in your eyes
REM-at my most beautiful

WOW-that's fun but that's just a touch of my faves. I'll be interested to see what others say. I love new music!

well you could always add a little touch of your all time fav--Les Miserables. On the other hand, we don't want you sopping up your keyboard every time you check your blog and "on my own" or "bring him home" starts playin'.

Ashley - so random, that song has been in my head all morning. But do you KNOW what that sentence is FROM?! Tell me it is not the same sentence/tune as the line from Uncle Jesse's song on Full House. Do you remember the episode where he makes a music video, and the song is something like, "If every word I said could make you laugh I'd talk forever... ooh, ooh." I SWEAR it's the same!

Ooh, I love Modest Mouse. Allison! Are you trying to suggest my dear Plain White T's took their inspiration from Uncle Jesse! Oh boy, that just put a damper on my favorite song de jour. Although, John Stamos---not too shabby. Thanks Tristie! I'm lovin' the big girl song. It will always remind me of your cute belly bump.

Okay I just spent an hour going through your blog and I think I only got to August. I miss you guys that much. So feel loved. It is so cute and I am jealous because you seem to be having so much fun. Trey got to play washers today at Hayley Vanbeevers and mentioned playing at your house. Fun memories!

fall out boy. I just started liking Coldplay, they sound a lot like U2 so they had to win me over. OkGo is always a favorite.
Regina Spector is good. Micah Dahl Anderson, strange but good.

By the way the Uncle Jessie song was a cover. It's really a Beach Boy song.

Have you heard Jos Stone. Look her up on you tube... I think there's still an amazing video of her with Melissa Etheridge doing a Janis Joplin song.. It ROCKS!!

Thanks for posting this! I love hearing everyone's music tastes and new tune ideas for my playlist. As of late I am into anything not heard on the radio. Weird I know, but I like the mix up and the new sound of tunes when you are the first one to discover them. Some new fav's of mine are Priscilla Ahn (on my blog), Colbie Caillat, Mae (awesome rock), Ingrid Michaelson, and always classic Frank Sinatra.

That's embarrassing that my knowledge of music is limited to a Full House episode rather than the actual artists who created the work :) Bearing my inaccurate assessment of music in mind, here are my latest faves:

Coldplay - Swallowed in the Sea
Damien Rice - Cannonball (hence my not-so-subtle tribute on the blog. This has been on my faves playlist for more than a year and a half and I'm still not sick of it.)
Damien Rice - 9 Crimes
James Blunt - Tears and Rain
Nelly Furtado - All Good Things

Also, some old standbys:
U2 (anything) and Electrical Storm
Anything Nat King Cole - I love when somebody gets my toes tappin'

And work out tunes:
Lindsay Lohan - cover of Stevie Nicks' Edge of Seventeen
No Doubt - In My Head
The Finger Eleven Song Meggie already recommended - Paralyzed

Hey Ashley! It's Cousin Nicole (new friend of your blog).

I needed some new tunes the other day and found a few you might like (since Delilah is on my playlist and I also have some Beatles and Pink - I thought this was an odd combo until I read you have the same thing). Anyway... (p.s. I'm loving your blog. Your Dad told me to check it out and I'm glad I did.)

Billie Holiday - The Very Thought of You
Peter Paul & Mary - Don't Think Twice
KT Tunstall - Hold On
Pet Shop Boys - Go West

later!
