Immunize By Two

No, this isn't a public service announcement. I actually avoid and postpone immunizations as long as I can.
Doesn't she look so delicate? You who know and love Abbey know she is anything but delicate. My little pixie is usually so feisty, daring, and full of energy and life. Sleep is always met with varying degrees of resistance--why succumb to sleep when there is so much to explore and destroy. So it was bittersweet to look at my sleeping mermaid, zonked out on my bed as I studied this afternoon. It was nice to have her close and calm, but then I would look at that little bandaid on her thigh and remember it's probably a little drug induced. Poor baby. I hate sitting in the doctor's office with Abbey happily reading a book, not knowing what's coming. They always ask "Mom, are you doing ok?" No! You have needles! Just get me out of here.

An excerpt from Justin's prayer at dinner tonight:
"Please bless Abbey's body that it will be able to handle the virus agents that have been introduced into her system." Closely followed by, "And please bless Ashley to be more reverent during my prayers."

ahhh, precious little picture! Poor little Abbey girl. Today I was watching Oprah..um.. yeah..usually don't.. but whatever.
anyway, some guests were on saying that they believe immunizations can lead to Autism. What?! I don't believe it. But if so, Abbey will be fine thanks to J's prayer. I'm laughing out loud right now at the last line on the post. Shame, Shame Ash. :)lol

Poor Abbey...I hope she is feeling better. Shots are the worst! Oh, and to Allegra's comment about the autism link: researchers think that the preservative used in the vaccine (which I cannot seem to remember what it is called at the moment) for multi-dose containers build up in the child's system and that can trigger autism in a previously healthy, normal child. I asked our pediatrician about it and he said their office only uses single dose vials (he can't fill another syringe out of the same container).
Ashley, I just love your blog. I found it on some link I had clicked on which took me to your post about the lady who said that someone should be working at least 30 hours a week. Oh, I was so mad after reading that (something similar had just happened here)! I have intended to comment about that, but I think I am still mad! =)
I have been trying to figure out from your blogs if you are still in Kirksville....my husband has a cousin attending ATSU and some of our friends are there as well. Do you know Charles Lenhardt or Tyler (wife: Melissa) Moss?

You need a warning at the beginning of unexpectadly funny posts... "This seemingly sweet post about my baby and immunization will have you laughing out loud to yourself in your cubicle in t minus..." THAT sort of warning.

Oh my GOSH! Did I really spell unexpectedly that way? Gross. And now I can't make it go away. Please, let the record show -- Allison Furniss Riley is STILL a good speller. Just ask the 4th, 5th AND 6th grade spelling bee-ers.

As adorable as that shot is, what I really want to know is how you put the lettering and date on it. I need tutorials in adorable digital editing. Jer just spent his first month's big pay raise on a new digital camera - a cool one, and now I desparately need to come into the power of digital editing.

Yes! I do, in fact, know them. Melissa's little girl is two weeks younger than Abbey and I loved to get them together--she is so sweet. And Charles was a year ahead of us, but lived just a block away. We went to Nauvoo a few times with him. Small world!

Koryn! Which one did you get! I bet it's awesome and I'm already jealous. Jer probably wouldn't settle for anything less than that incredible FBI one he was using for a while. And Al, what pray tell were those spelling words that took you down :) No really, I want to know. Always a good laugh.

Ahhh...the medical professional's prayer. I don't blame you for being a little irreverent. What a sweetheart you have though (Abbey, not Justin...although I'm sure he's a sweetheart too!)....and I, like you, put off Jace getting his shots just as much as possible....they need a sucker (or valium) for us moms too :o)!

What a sweet little picture:) Love the prayer, and it sounds like she is up an going again! Probably with a runny nose-they always seem to have a runny nose after shots:(

Ha! I love the prayer excerpt... I would have been not so reverent too. I hope Abbey feels better.

The last few days are a blur and I can't remember if I replied to you on another post or not!

That sounds like a prayer Paul would offer. (including the chastisement.) :) Your photography is gorgeous!
