Country Chic

I love my inlaws' cabin home, it should be featured in some magazine. Well, it has. But here are some of my favorite corners:

You can keep your jacuzzi tubs--whenever I think of the perfect soak, I picture myself here.

Then down to the kitchen. Her oven is off about 75 degrees or something, but she knows how to adjust. And my mom can throw together a meal in this cozy kitchen like it's nobody's business.

Do you know anybody that has a wood burning stove? Oh. Well, do you know anybody who actually uses to heat their home in the winter? My father-in-law chopped wood for hours and hours getting ready for winter. We were here when the stock market took a nosedive a few weeks ago. I thought a lot about my own situation and surviving savviness and I loved to see how self sufficient they are. They even have their own water well. I'm in big trouble if our economy fails. More. I get concerned when I can't find Corn Bran at the grocery store.

It was cool to see things through a little girl's eyes this time.

I never really appreciated the beautiful antique toys until I saw Abbey appreciating them. Mom had a whole little house set up for her with a stove, antique doll cribs, tea sets, and furniture just her size. So lovely.

Can you feel how jealous I am right now?! These photos look like they're from a different time - so beautiful. It looks like an inspiring place to spend some time. (I'm totally with you on the tub thing - jets are too loud.)

I DO know someone who heats their house with a wood burning stove! My in-laws. You and me are lucky to have such fun small town homes to escape too when we visit the in-laws. I appreciate not only marrying a small town gentleman, but also all the fun benifits that come along with it. small hometown parades, beutiful scenic backdrops, small town gossip, and just down to earth people are some of my favorite things. Those pics are beautiful and what an awesome kitchen your mom in law has!

LOVE the antiques miss abbster is playing with. my grandma (dad's dad) has a ton of property, and decided it would be fun to build a "cottage" in her backyard for the grandkids. its a full- on mini house with bed, dress-ups, kid-sized oven and little antique forks spoons and stuff JUST like Abbey is playing with so i loved seeing that picture:) so sweet and special. that's how i spent my days as a little girl was having tea parties at my gma's house in her cottage with her little antiques. love it. i'm glad you had a good time...

love the pics! they look great, and i'm LOVIN that stepping stool.

p.s. i remember justin's mom looking SO much like justin..

the pic of the kitchen makes me feel like I am there. we will be heating our home with a wood stove, thanks to my husband. it is the only thing he really really wanted in the house and he let me pick everything else so i couldn't say no.

I'm raising my hand on the woodstove question. My house is being deliciously heated by the woodstove right this minute- with wood chopped and stacked by my strapping boys. I remember Uncle Mark telling us about your in-law's and their woodstove "..and I swear they actually USE it!!!" I've shared that with many of my country bumpkin friends who can't believe that people DON'T have wood stoves :)

Ha, awesome. I'll think that every time I walk past their stove now. I would love to come see where you live sometime! Allison said your town is like Stars Hollow. (Hopefully you love Gilmore Girls like I do and tend to think Stars Hollow is a real place...)
