Justin and I made our way across the country to see my little brother get married a few weeks ago. Kasey joined our family in kind-of a funny time--we are spread out across the world and I personally met her the morning of the wedding in the hotel lobby. And I may have thought she was her sister when I ran into them.
I'm so happy to have her in our family. I imagine there's a lot of pressure to marry a boy with four older sisters! During the ceremony, the officiator said something about them becoming a family today and Kasey looked over at Collin with the sweetest, kindest, happy smile. My heart totally melted and I was so glad he found someone who adores him.
We dropped the kids off in Salt Lake (literally...we flew in, J grabbed the kids and ran towards baggage claim, then pushed a stroller through security to Justin's mom and hauled back to the gate to catch our flight to Portland. And by 'pushed' I mean Justin handed it off to a nice stranger and told them to take Bennett to the lady waving down the hall so he wouldn't have to go through security again,) so we had these folks all to ourselves. Those kids tend to steal the show. After the ceremony and lunch, we headed out to find a batting cage. Apparently this is tradition for Noah and Justin??? Allison and I were unaware. But it was very important, so we took off. It was closed for the winter so the backup plan was to take a trip to Voo Doo Doughnuts. Two major highlights: my sisters struggling to order anything because they were embarrassed to say the names to my mom and Justin purposefully picking things that my mom would have to order by name. Then my cousin, Aaron, being kicked by a homeless lady as we walked under an enormous painted wall that said, "Keep Portland Weird." Mission accomplished.
They had their reception at an awesome barn that night. I loved the setting and wished I had better camera equipment to capture it. Lucky for us, they had my cousin's wife, Shonda, clicking away. I've admired her blog and photography for years so it was fun to meet her and see her work. I loved getting to know Kasey's family as well. I was trying to pull info out of her dad about what she was like as a kid, but he wasn't spilling too much. :) I'm excited to get to know her more over the years.
Then it was off to Utah for the holidays and another party for Collin's family and friends there.

When did you take any of those pictures from the Eccles Mansion?! I had my camera and I got one awful picture (the back of your head is in it!) so I didn't even post about the event. Aaron acted out getting kicked by a homeless woman and I didn't believe him until I read this. Good thing he had witnesses.
I'm really sad we didn't have a minute to catch up. My boys were so naughty that night! I went through the line just to say hi to Aunt Julie and I was holding Colin, who had pooped his pants. No class! This summer?
Happy times! Thanks so much for posting these pretty pictures. I can't believe how fast your family is growing. Is Koryn's son seriously that tall? What the WHAT? I met one of my sisters-in-law the day she got married. Weird. Love the red shoes!
Gosh you're good at taking pictures! I loved looking through these form Colin's wedding festivities. And I love the dress/skirt you have Hayden and Abbey in! Beautiful, beautiful family!
Seriously you are so talented it makes me sick!!!
Who is the girl in the red coat outside the wedding in the top picture?? She looks just like your girls in that shot.
I tried to send a message before and it didn't go through and I gave up because it was a really long one and I hate when that happens. I wanted to tell you that you are my new poster women of fashion and modesty...It can be done!! You have the perfect body to wear everything and anything yet I feel like I never see you in anything inappropriate, not even borderline. That is such a rarity today. Thanks for being such a wonderful example!!!
I have been waiting for this post! Of course you delivered on the beautiful pictures. I was pretty upset that we had to head back home the day before the Ogden reception. I really wanted to see you guys. Collin and kasey look really sweet together. Spencer has an AWESOME smile. Your kids are too much, and how hilarious that the guys thought they could squeeze in some time at the batting cages during a wedding day. So something my husband would try.
I appreciate the fact there isn't a mention of my failing to get your dad on Skype or that I left Collin and your mom out in the cold at the mansion after the fact. I'm afraid it's the Riley in me.
Ash! a) Collin is old enough to get married? I thought he was in elementary! ;) b) SO thrilled your mom could be there, c) always love your pictures--and you captured all the randomness/sweetness of receptions/open houses so perfectly, d) you were in Ogden? (love the Eccles mansion) So sad I missed you. Maybe if the stars align we can finally hang out one of these days.
I love these pictures of you and your family! Beautiful wedding, and reception. I am still imagining Collin as an 8 year old so it kind of trips me up seeing that he is getting married. Love ya Ashley. I can't believe it's been so long since we have seen each other.
Beautiful pictures! Your family looks very loving and happy. And the settings are beautiful! It's nice to see some Portland temple pics. Takes me back to our wedding!
Great pictures! I love that Justin was teasing your mom by having her order donuts for him with inappropriate names. Bobby would totally do that.
