What was THAT?!

So about an hour ago I'm trying to entertain the kids outside and realize I need to feed Bennett. I take Hayden inside with me because I don't trust her outside and try to get her settled with activities and food so I can nurse. Bennett's almost done, almost asleep. Hayden waddles in because she just peed her pants on the couch. I quickly lay Bennett down as gently as I can so he'll stay asleep and I can take care of the pee situation. Just then I look outside and Abbey and her friend are throwing pool toys into the road so they can run and save them. I'm uncomfortable with them being outside alone anyway, so that does it. In the thirty seconds it takes me to gather their toys and clean up some sidewalk chalk, Hayden has gone in to find Bennett. She can not be trusted around that baby. Truly, it is a threat to his life. So he is awake and crying now. I grab Hayden so fast she drops her pancake on the floor and is in tears because I scared her. Bennett's in tears and needs to be calmed back to sleep. Then Abbey is in tears because something happened with her friend and a new toy.

So what I want to know is, IS THIS MY LIFE NOW?!

Only for awhile. They grow up and things get easier, but you are in an intense time right now! Just breathe and know that what you are doing is important and that other moms have survived 3 munchkins before. Think to yourself "I'm in good company. I am earning the right to be a grandma and spoil my grandkids someday!"

Ha! Yes, grandkids. That's when I'll get my revenge.

It's your life NOW, but not for long. You can do it!

I love it when all three of my kids are crying at the same time. Sweet, sweet music.

I guess I'll meet you on the other side of this part, eh? Keep your chin up (so it's out of the water, of course). :)

Oh girl! If only I lived close enough to bring you dinner tonight and a shoulder to laugh and cry on. This motherhood gig is quite the ride isn't it? Some of my most loved blog posts to read back on are the crazy mothering days like yours today. Its real and a snapshot of what life is truly like right now. These days will be behind us before we know it and it's great to have the good, the bad and the ugly documented.

Enjoy it!!! You'll be wishing for those days soon. :) Mine are 6 and 8. While those are great ages, they'll never be "little" again! :)

Thinking about you lots today.

When I read this, I noted: a) life-saver of preschoolers and infants; b) planner of playdates; c) nutritionist, well-schooled in the art of pancake making; d) the list goes on.

Even your "easiest" day astounds and impresses me. Your harder days make me wish I could be there to help.

Thanks for your great example, sweet sis.

Oh gosh! Reading this does not make me excited to add more to my flock. Just know that you are absolutely inspiring to me. Everything you devotre time to is always beautiful...for example...you wore a cute skirt while wearing Bennett in the post below...I'm sitting on my couch in Devin's scrubs right now. Your girls (and boy now), your home, your cooking, your style, your photos, your decor, etc is always beautiful...and I know somehow, in the midst of this craziness...you were probably beautiful as your multi-tasked!

Yesterday Henry threw an opened yogurt into the shower at me while I was showering. I dashed out to find the fridge open and a trail of yogurt from there to the shower. Naked, wet, soapy mom chasing two year old, both slipping on yogurt all over the house. I'm sure there must have been a candid camera somewhere! Then he had the gall to cry like a limb had been chopped off when I confined him long enough to pull myself together. It's a rough life for both of us :)
