Feeling It

Eh. Moving.

I get better at it every time we do, but you know the first few months are going to feel lonely. They just do. J's car is breaking down and it now costs more to fix than it is worth. We really, really can't afford a new one right now. So yours truly is going to try to go without a car until our condo sales.

So I'm feeling blue. There it is. I am. I want to go back to where its comfortable. Where I know people whose nap schedules mesh with mine, whose kids mesh with mine, whose personalities mesh with mine. It just takes TIME to find those friends.

The little ladies are feeling it as well. A LOT more emotional meltdowns.
So we took them to a summer festival (which runs every night until July--score!) and taught them how to deal:

a little dancin'

And might as well learn it now, ladies. Ice Cream!

Hayden would not take her eyes off the bowl. I title this picture: Determination.

It does just take time:) I always think I am not going to meet as cool of friends, but time always proves me wrong! We just sold our 94 camry for the same reasons. Craigslist is the best for that kind of stuff. We didn't think anyone would want an old broken down car with NO brakes but within a half hour we had six calls and sold it! I swear you and your girls just stepped out of a magazine:) GORGEOUS!

I just can't handle the cuteness of the Pace chilluns. Beautiful. It seems they would be good advertising for new friends. I would hang out with their mom. For sure.

In fact, can I hang out with their mom? Really. Come visit.

I love how you capture your family's life with your amazing pictures!!! Beautiful!!! And believe me, I, and my boys are feeling the same as you right now! It's nice to know people out there understand what your going through:) The first day we got here, Kordin was missing his friends and cousins. So, lucky for us, my sister works for Jet Blue and she can come out any time we need her to, so her 3 girls are coming to visit tomorrow. So that will help us a little:) Good luck in finding your peeps :) You are so easy to get along with, it will be easy:)

The thought of moving makes me want ice cream. Sorry about the transition time - it's the worst. I only know it from the kid perspective, but it's still the worst. On the bright side, you and your ladies are the most beautiful ever. And also, ice cream is good. :)

Yesterday after church something hit Baker and I think the reality finally set in. Any way, he left screaming at the top of his lungs, "My best friend left and that makes me so sad!"

All I could say is me too, my friends left and that made me so sad.

Dang, I hate the stupid time difference. 11:40 is too late to call, right? ;)

Cute pictures. That summer festival looks fun! I'm sorry about the downgrade to a one car family. That sucks. Hopefully you've got some good stuff within walking distance?

Ann Arbor is lucky to have you. Don't let them forget it!

i totally know what you mean about moving. it is the telling your story a million times that i don't look forward to when a move is eminent.

okay-more importantly-i need a few more pictures of that hat!!! where did you find that? it is incredibly adorable.

love the photos! And while I have you, love the cruise storyboards you assembled, too... GORGEOUS detail shots!!

I totally feel for you.... I HATE that drifting, unsettled sensation. Peace, my friend...

AWESOME pics! You and your girls should get an agent!

Allyn--a garage sale. Always a garage sale! You can bet most of what we own is second-hand. I hate paying retail. And, in fact, Justin even refuses to pay 'garage sale retail', ha ha! He's quite the haggler.

Love the pictures and love the hat too! Yuck, I'm sorry you guys are going down to one car. No fun. I owe you so much for the MANY times you gave me rides everywhere! Thanks so much! You really saved me!! We miss you guys!

I completely understand your pain. It always takes time to adjust. Even now, I still yearn for the friends I had at USU or the friends from A&M. But you're so great I doubt you'll have any trouble at all easily finding new friends. As has been stated by pretty much everyone above me, beautiful pics. You're kids are ridiculously adorable!

That is so hard starting out all over in a new city. :( I hope that the girls start feeling at home there while you get adjusted. It looks like you are making the best of it though...what a fun day! Abbey & Hayden are so adorable..they really don't come any cuter.

I know that it will be no time before you have tons of friends in Michigan. Hope that the move wasn't too bad! Sorry about the car, I've been there done that...no fun! Let me know your address, so that I can send your girlies birthday presents...

ash, the moving blues STINK. It takes a good 6-12 months to make the kind of friends a girl needs. once you unpack and settle, it is pretty boring and lonely and mom and kiddos get sick of each other. i am so sorry. hang in there.

Oh Ashley, we miss you too. Things just aren't the same without you guys. We're just lucky enough to get to see your blog. The people in Ann Arbor will soon realize how great you guys are and then you'll be fighting the friends off with sticks! Just don't forget about all of us when they do!Ü

I'm sorry Ashley :( I really am...you have done this move thing a lot in the past 4 years. I'm thinking about you and your girls...and hoping that the friends come pouring in soon! (the kind that have the same nap schedule...I liked that!)

Ashley, I'm with you on the one car thing. Nolan and I did that for the first 4 1/2 years of our marriage, and believe me it got pretty creative at times. You can do it! And I love that top picture of you and Abbey dancing - what lucky daughters you have.

I'm in your SAME boat. Lonely. Only I have 5 kids that are off kilter. No tv. And no internet, until tonight. One week. I want to go home....

I really dislike the transition time too. However you are one of the best and coolest ladies I know and everyone always wants to be your friend. Plus you have a million friends all over the place. You will make friends in no time. Sorry about the car thing. I will pray the condo sells soon!

Oh, I am so sorry we have been out of town for your whole first week here! What terrible friends!
We are excited to get together soon. We came in late last night and I a made Paul promise me he wouldn't make me go anywhere today except to the grocery store for milk. I need to get laundry under control today since my kids all look like vagabonds in all the leftover clothes that don't match, and everything around here is stinky.... and then we need to get together, asap.
Love ya,
And you are going to love it here. We do, and you are in a much better house and neighborhood and town than we are so you have no excuse. JK. It's hard, transitions are always hard. See you soon babe!

Moving..it is tough in all dimensions. Out of all the people I know, however, you are one who will easily make many friends and take advantage of what is around you every instant you can--see you've already gone to a fun summer festival and taken some ADORABLE pics of your little girls! Hayden's hat is so DARLING! The best to you!

Don't worry, that will be me soon...only I don't have any cute kids to hang out with. I will be on my own, well with Adam:)
