I hope you all have that song from 'Annie' stuck in your head now.
Our Hayden turned three years old in May! I had yet to throw the girl her own birthday party, so this was the year. It worked out to have the party while Aunt Allison and Uncle Noah were in town (it would not have happened without them!) In fact, five minutes before people showed up, I was nursing Bennett and still needed a shower. It was my own fault, I had in my head all day the party started later and it wasn't until that moment I realized--'no, no, no, they are going to be here in five minutes!!'
So all the Pace girls were a tad disheveled; Abbey pretty much wore a princess towel for a crown the whole night. Oh man, we are awesome these days.
The invitation was a sleeve with tickets inside for each kid in the family. After walking up the red carpet outside, they handed me their ticket to get inside and later got their cash for the concession stand. I didn't make a plan for how to handle eight kids all wanting things from the table at once, but they were so polite about it and dutifully paid for each toy or treat.
Of course, every girl was dressed up in some form of pink princess or ballerina :)
An hour or so before the party, J started setting up the trampoline in the front yard and giving the girls water balloons. Why? I don't know!!! He's the fun parent. It's been established. I had my 'what in the world!?' face on, but the trampoline turned out to be the unplanned hit on the night.

A) I'm ALL over this darling-of-an-idea, B) What did you use for the butter on top of that super cute cake, and C) is that Noah I see chillin' with the chil'uns.....and D) thank goodness for dads, kids lives would be to rigid without'em. :)
That isn't Noah, but he was there! The Wilton brand makes these sparkly cake decorating flakes that I used for the butter. It all kept disappearing into the marshmellows, so I had to use the whole jar of them. Glad you noticed and it wasn't a total waste :)
what the cake! adorable party. wish we could have come! love the idea. tucking it away for future parties.
gotta love those "fun parents."
Love this idea!! Looks like so much fun. What is in the white bowls in the background?
I love this birthday party theme! And I love the invitations you did...and the cake! Wow...the cake is awesome! How do you do it Ashley? How do you throw a 3 year old birthday party like this while having a newborn and 5 year old at the same time?!
Also...I have been thinking about coming to see you guys, but wasn't sure if you were up for visitors now that you have Bennett and are finding your footing. But in all seriousness...as soon as you feel up for it, I will pack Emily and I up in the car and head over for a few days. Devin is a slave to studying for boards right now, so I could easily come!
Crystal, it is mostly junk :) It tends to be the place that my husband and I toss change, safety pins, extra balls of yarn. But I have some pinwheels stuck in there right now that I made for my little girls' room. I love pinwheels right now!
You guys are the best parents! How fun.
Ashley, you are so great. I just need to tell you that. Your life looks like something straight out of a magazine, but you keep things so real & totally relatable in your posts. Your children are going to grow up with magical memories of their childhoods. (I almost said your GIRLS, but then I remembered darling Bennett!) Also, your post about Hayden was so sweet. You're right, she's beautiful. Enjoy these fun days. Fun, right? :)
Fun party and Happy Birthday Hayden...she is BEAUTIFUL!
Ashley you never cease to amaze me. I really wish you lived closer so you could be my party planner :)
You put some great parties together!!! I just might have to borrow some of your ideas someday. Happy 3rd birthday to Hayden!
